Summer Getaway In Cape Cod

A couple weeks ago Dylan and I took a short 3 day trip to Cape Cod and it was sooo delightful. The Cape is only a ~3hr car ride for us so it’s the perfect weekend trip for us. Granted, we went during a pandemic ;(, but we made the best out of it and had a great couple of days disconnecting. We spent a lot of time at the beach, riding bikes, reading, lounging and relaxing - it was perfect!

Where we stayed:

I found a house on airbnb and it was perfect! It’s located in Yarmouth, which made the drive even shorter than if we went farther out. The property has bikes (really cute ones, too!), a kayak, beach chairs/towels, and a cooler all free for your use - basically anything you could need! It was about a 15-20 minute bike ride to the beach, which was so convenient. It was so fun to bike through the gorgeous neighborhoods, and then spend some time at the beach, you could even consider it exercise ;) hah! Inside was very small - perfect for 2 people but it was just what we needed. There is also a lake even closer to the house (5 min walk) that you could kayak on or just take in the scenery! Finally, the best part: there is an ice cream shop right across the street (maybe 30 seconds).. can you say PERFECT LOCATION?! I would definitely recommend this airbnb!

WHAT WE ATE:

Soooo, usually I am a pretty good planner.. however, I didn’t look into Massachusett’s guidelines during Covid - so we got there and realized restaurants were not open for outdoor seating - lol. We did lots of takeout- and it actually worked out because we found so many hidden gems. For breakfast we would grab sandwiches from Hearth & Kettle - another place walking distance from our airbnb — we sat outside on the airbnb’s patio and enjoyed breakfast. For lunch we were determined to find lobster rolls - and ohhhh did we. We picked some up from Sesuit Harbor Cafe in Dennis. We then drove around trying to find a spot to eat.. and we hit the jackpot. I’m not even sure how we found it but we followed signs for “beach”, went through what looked like a private neighborhood and then came up on a hidden public beach. We parked the car, walked over the huge dune and literally entered heaven on earth. It was the most beautiful, spacious, EMPTY beach - we had a blanket in the car so we sat down and had the best afternoon ever. The lobster rolls were so delicious and the scenery was as if we were on a private beachfront date at a fancy restaurant. For dinner, one night we got fried seafood from Seafood Sam’s, and set up at a picnic table on the beach- it was so good, get the clam chowder! The second night we took a drive to Provincetown, got dinner from Fanizzi’s and found a cute little spot to park the car overlooking the ocean. We ate dinner and had some wine in the car, it was perfect. Dylan got the scallops and I got a greek salad with salmon - both were SO delicious - would highly recommend this restaurant.

WHAT WE DID:

This was a veryyy chill getaway. We basically just slept in, biked around, looked at gorgeous houses, ate yummy food, spent time at the beach, read our books and hung out. It was perfect and so needed- especially for Dyl, he has been working on covid units for the past 3 months so this was a much needed break. I just love the charming vibe Cape Cod exudes, we had so much fun!
